We’ve lived in fear of nuclear war since 1945, when the United States bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, killing hundreds of thousands of human beings — some instantly, some slowly, some not even born yet.

We’re worried now, with heads of state threatening each other with total annihilation.

But right now, there’s GOOD NEWS.

In July 2017, the United Nations adopted the comprehensive Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons by a margin of 122 to 1.

Some of the elderly survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were there to witness the moment.

In October 2017, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to ICAN, the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, a consortium of 468 organizations in 101 countries, for their groundbreaking work that led to the Treaty.

The Treaty is a new tool that all of us can use to move toward total nuclear disarmament, even if our own leaders haven’t signed or ratified it yet. This is a golden opportunity, not just another idealistic attempt to solve this problem.

YOU can implement this magnificent Treaty in your own life, in your own community, and in your city and state.
