Joe Hodgkin, MD, Greater Boston Physicians for Social Responsibility

Joe Hodgkin, MD is an attending hospitalist physician at Massachusetts General Hospital and an instructor in medicine at Harvard Medical School.  He has served on the board of Greater Boston Physicians for Social Responsibility since 2017.  As a member of Physicians for Social Responsibility, International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, and Back from the Brink, he is involved in medical and peer education about the health effects of nuclear weapons, youth and medical trainee engagement, lobbying for disarmament and de-escalatory nuclear policy, and physician “Track II” diplomacy to promote peace in the medical and scientific communities across borders.  He has spoken on the topic of nuclear weapons to physician audiences, medical trainees, and at the 2022 Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference.  In October 2021, four months prior to the beginning of the Ukraine conflict, he traveled to Moscow to meet with Russian physician counterparts and release a joint statement on cooperation and multilateral nuclear disarmament.
